Winter time is upon us and we are ready!
The team has compiled a list of tasks to perform to get the entire set of trails ready to shread this year 2025. We have focused on cleaning the entire area of all loose debris, pluck grass out the inner riding area, and just recently, after a nice day or 2 of wet weather, we put the spades to the soil. one good team session and a birm was reborn, a celebratory bezza in the amphitheater while ridding of some unwanted debris in some flames, sizzling a wors, and just making the most of what we got and where we got.
The Big Line is visible again!
Friday, the 18th of April 2025 we set out to clear the big line.
Although the weather was a bit on the hot side, we took advantage of having the day off and grinding some basic clearing, moving loose dirt, leaves, and uncovering the remnants of the masterpieces beneath.
At the end of the day, we were stoked that we had a basic outline of the work to do.

We have had some fantastic rain this passed week which can only lead to one thing....Gumtrails Gold
Friday afternoon we all congrigated to our haven, a place of freedom, our Gumtrails.
The plan was simple dial in the top rollers. Often the most gruelling task as it is a long haul from the digging pit. The crew got stuck in and dug more than the resident mole. Barrow after barrow, progress was being made. A quick tafel to wet the whistle, and before we knew it everything was ready for some Saturday slapping.
Saturday started with Bavid Doyter making some epic bacon and egg rolls on the skottel... I mean he is a chef after all.
Slap after slap things started to take shape. It's amazing to see how everyone's technique is improving and the constant effort of shaping the Gumtrails Gold into the perfect smooth layer.
The task seemed as if it was never going to end. We kept encouraging each other and despite the blisters and cramps, pushed through. Our goal was completed...Perfection and ready to shred.
The session was incredible and everyone was in the zone and riding so well. The energy and riding was so good that even some of the local residents stopped to spectate.
The light stopped the session for about 20 Minutes as the 2nd and 3rd became quite blind. Everyone waited patiently for golden hour or as we know it.... PRIME TIME. Ruben Louw was behind the lens and caught some incredible shots.
After the session a fire was made and a couple cold ones went down like a home sick mole. Everyone was frothing more than a perfectly poured Lager and perfectly poured they were.
We have started a Gumtrails floating trophy. It is a small blue spade which some up and coming digger must of left behind.
The concept is simple, it is awarded every weekend to someone who stands out. We agreed that Lawrence was the man of the weekend. He sparked the idea to dial in the top and really took charge and then backed it up with some amazing riding. He was also on a brand new bike. Absolutely incredible.
I think the last person who deserves credit is Pedro. He shaped the second landing perfectly and did it on his own while we were still in bed on Sunday morning. His skills with the spade and on the bike are progressing very fast and it's so motivating to see his passion for the trails.
I think it is safe to say that we have the most amazing crew of guys. Everyone is so passionate about the trails and it is showing fast.

May's force is with us.
with a trick jump line boosting it, it makes a nice evening meet up during the week to dial in some dirt to tread after a long day's work. there is nothing better.
There has been a lot of activity regarding the property lately. lot of here say. What has happened is that there were some soil samples (approx 8) taken throughout the property. we are led to believe there is a school wanting to be built.
when we discuss the subject as a group, i mean it's obvious we don't want this +35 year South African BMX history destroyed, i mean that's what we are doing, preserving the culture of South African BMX Trail riding and not only inspiring others but educating the basics. Hard work pays off. but what happens will happen, and we will have plans to continue to sesh.
Other than that, we like to look forward, however, we focus on the time we have in the present, we look in the past, and all we see is awesomeness. Come Join the Diggings and Ridings every Saturday. we just wanna have fun
With Plans to work the right lines, second jump, and hip landing while having a ride on Saturday turned into a full-on dig day . the focus was in , hands were locked onto the spades, filling barrows, piling and slappenzies. the day flew by and before we realized it the sun was setting and the bikes are still in the car . time to have a chow together and appreciate what we have achieved together. GTL
On Sunday we planned to continue with the right line, 3rd landing, and 4th lip. it turned out to be a sesh on the trick jump.
The boys started pulling in from 11 am. it was a sunny day with a tiny, almost non-existent breeze, a perfect day to sesh.
Take the carpets off , sweep the line , water , wait, and hit it . Lawrence, Jason, Dave, Pedro, Jamie, Tobie, enjoying the best gums has to offer, Free, at your own risk airtime.

the boys were grinding the public holidays out in the dirt , water tanks filled, coolers loaded with energy drinks , beers and wors , and the days were set out to destroy the dirt and move mountains . we need to ride and the goal was clear .

we came we saw we kicked ass. Kings and Queens popped in from all over the Western Cape to lend a hand here and there, every little bit helps let me tell you, and heck some fresh muscle in the pit gives you the extra energy you need to just push through ,
The more we dug the more excited we got . each slap was a slap of success rippling our dreamworld of flowing through the lines together into a wave .
eventually we had the ocean of motions coursing through our veins as we stand on the the top together , padded up , GTL fist pumps helmets on and here we go .
